False Acne Information

There are many myths and speculations about acne and the possible causes and cure for it. Some acne information, instead of giving out the best and true information provides us with misleading concepts and understanding about zits.

One of the greatest acne information that we could take note of is the real meaning and definition of the term “acne”. Acne is considered to be a disorder of the skin that results from the behavior of our hormones and other substances on our skin’s oil glands and hair follicles. Acne usually grows in the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders of a person.

Myths And Misconceptions

To give out some facts about acne information, it is important to understand that there are many myths and misconceptions people has formulated about acne, its causes, and treatments. Number one is that tanning clears up the skin from acne. It does not heal the acne and the scars, it only covers them up. What is more dangerous when you are fond of tanning to heal acne is that you may develop a form of allergy due to the chemicals that you use for tanning. Another acne information that is totally false is that chocolate and greasy food causes people to break out. It is not yet proven that there are specific foods that causes one to break out, each of us are different to one another so our bodies react differently to what we eat. Other people may notice that they are breaking out after eating certain foods, while others do not. Another false acne information that we may often hear is that the more often we wash our face, the less acne we will get. Though cleaning the face often may get rid of bacteria and oil, it may cause severe dryness if washed too often causing the skin more breakouts. Also, it is false to assume that by popping your pimple, you will instantly get rid of it. Popping the zit may only worsen your condition since you have the tendency to push the bacteria further and deeper in the skin which eventually may lead to redness and more irritation.

And lastly, worse false acne information that we may see and hear from acne commercials is that it helps to use more of acne medication until the pimples are gone. This misconception is dangerous since it not only makes you spend more money, but also dries your skin a whole lot. Over-the-counter acne medications contain drying agents like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. If the medication did not work for you, it is always best to consult your doctor and ask for a better treatment.
